Clear Sky Consulting was established in 2017 to provide a range of independent, professional consultancy and interim management services to the aerospace industry. The business is led by Stephen Sykes who, to this day, is amazed by the achievements of the industry since his first sight of an English Electric Lightning taking of from Warton aerodrome, Lancashire, UK at the age of 5. Stephen loves the industry for what it has provided to his personal development, career and family and is now an influential, commercially astute Interim Executive/Programme Director/Engineering Director/Business Unit Director/Critical Supplier Developer with 35 years international leadership experience in the aerospace and defence sectors. He has an extensive track record of success leveraged by an ability to critically analyse and judge the most complex problems whilst delivering innovative, pragmatic, cost effective solutions. As a skilled communicator with an emotionally intelligent appreciation for others, talent for creativity together with a practiced set of tools/techniques, including Lean/CI, his predominant experience is in the delivery of high risk, business critical development, transformation and change programmes in matrix organised, multi skilled and multi cultural/national businesses.

He spent the first 35 years of his career with BAE Systems (22 years), Goodrich (6 years), Marshall Aerospace & Defence (5 years), Ultra Electronics (2 years). All of it ... in preparation for this second stage!

Stephen is a university degree educated, professionally qualified engineer and is proud to be a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Royal Aeronautical Society and Association for Project Management. In 2019, he was invited to become a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, an achievement which marks a career highlight for him.
